Moving Day

Hi!!!

The past two days have been absolutely jam-packed with driving and packing and loading and unloading and unpacking and cleaning… Whew!

Billy and I spent all day Thursday packing up our place.  Then my dad drove down to CT yesterday with a UHaul and helped us move everything from there to my new place.  My mom and her boyfriend met us at the new place and helped us unload and move in.  Our saving grace was the elevator right next to my apartment… Thank gosh for that!

After a long day of hauling bags and boxes, breaking down and putting furniture back together, installing blinds, and a little bit of unpacking and putting things away, my mom, dad, and Norm all headed out.  Thank to them and Billy for making this whole thing a lot easier!!

I haven’t done any traditional workouts in the past couple days, but let me tell you, moving is a serious workout.  I can’t even tell you how many squats I’ve done over the past couple days lifting boxes.  And sprinting back and forth from the dumpsters and down the hallway definitely counts for something!

As you can see, I still have a long way to go…

But things are at least settled enough for now!

This morning I tried to determine which bags/boxes I’ll need immediately and which can wait a while to be unpacked.  I’ll need clothes/toiletries for the week, but I’m going to take my time putting everything else away so I can really do it right.  The kitchen might be the first thing I tackle, because I’m already sick of using paper plates and eating on the floor…

Last night, after everyone left and things calmed down a bit, Billy and I ordered Dominos for dinner. (I can’t wait to explore new restaurants in the area, but we were way too tired for anything new last night.)  I got my usual thin crust with spinach and roasted red peppers, and we shared some chicken kickers.

We were in bed by 9:00 last night, completely exhausted, but we did have a little energy left to watch a new-to-us show called Duck Dynasty.  Have you seen it? (They literally have shows about everything on TV now…)  We thought it was hilarious and watched several episodes before I couldn’t hold my eyes open anymore.

This morning after I did a little organizing, I spent some time looking over my new tenant information booklet and thinking about what to do for breakfast.  We contemplated heading to Dunkin Donuts, and I thought about making pancakes when I saw the mix on top of a bag in the kitchen, but ultimately decided on bagels.  Billy had two PB halves, but I made mine a PB and jelly mix.

Hitting up the grocery store for some fruits, veggies, milk, etc. later is a must… I’ll also need to pick up stuff to make lunches for work this week.  I’d also like to get stuff for dinners, but after surveying the scene in the kitchen, I think I might have to be eating out for a couple more days…

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

Regularly Scheduled Programming

This morning I made a quick version of overnight oats for breakfast. Before I started getting ready, I just mixed oats, plain Greek yogurt, and skim milk and let it sit in the fridge while I did some other things. After about a half hour, I topped it with some strawberries and I had a great morning meal!

Right after breakfast, Billy and I headed down to CT to pack up the rest of our apartment before the big move happens tomorrow.  We have been working hard all day, and although I wish we would’ve spread the work out a little bit more, it’s coming along.  For the most part, everything is now packed in boxes and ready to be loaded into the truck tomorrow.

Although the wood paneling is hideous and we’ve never had the greatest of all living conditions here, I’m really going to miss this place.  I spent three amazing years in this apartment and as rugged as it is, it’s going to be hard to leave it behind.  Over the years, it’s really become our home!

But the silver lining of today?

I found my necklace!!!!!

Billy gave this to me a while ago and I mysteriously lost it one day and have felt horrible ever since.  But the thing is that I’ve always had this feeling that I’d find it when we move out because I knew I didn’t really lose it.  I used to take it off and put it back in the same place every night, so my suspicion was that I got it stuck on something and it fell behind a piece of furniture where it was hidden from view.

And sure enough, that’s exactly what happened!! I moved a shelf in my closet this morning, and voila! There it was.  I screamed to Billy (he was outside and probably thought I’d nailed my hand to the wall), but I was just so excited to find it.  I knew I would!!

Things are probably going to be pretty chaotic over the next few days, and between all that’s going on and not having normal access to internet, blogging is probably going to take a back seat for a while.  We’re moving all my stuff to my new place tomorrow, and then there will be a lot of exploring and unpacking going on.

I’ll be sure to catch you all up as soon as things get back to normal!

In the meantime, have a great weekend!!
