Continuous Release Mode in Baseball

I stuffed a whole wheat + flax pita pocket with broiled chicken that I cooked up the other night, plus chipotle hummus, a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese, and as much spinach as I could fit. I drizzled some olive oil in a fan on the stove and cooked up either side of the sandwich just a bit. I didn’t warm all of the things inside, but it did give the outside of the pita a nice crunch, which I love.
At the game, I caught a picture of our friend Teddy mid-air. He does a backflip before every game, and every time I see him do it I get so peeved at the fact that these guys can just try it once and immediately be master gymnasts and it took me so long (and so many tumbling lessons) to even be able to attempt it. Billy can do standing tucks too; of course he executed it perfectly on his first try. So unfair, if you ask me. But more power to you, boys!
I’m really loving having my camera, and today I played around some more with the video and continuous release settings. With sports like baseball, it’s really cool to be able to take successive pictures in the continuous release setting to see the whole action of a pitch or a swing. I think I was only doing it in 3 shots per second mode, and I’ve got to do a little more research to see if that’s as fast as it can go or not.
Here are some continuous release shots of Dave pitching. He did so great!!
Zooming is another thing I need to research a little more. The lens and zoom capabilities I have are great for shooting things close up but not so great for far away shots. For example, the shots of Dave above would be even cooler if I could’ve zoomed in farther, don’t you think? And those were actually zoomed in again once I had them on my computer before I posted them here!
Here’s one of Billy zoomed all the way in from the fence at the field:
It’s definitely not terrible, but it sure would be cool to be able to zoom up a little closer. I don’t know if I can do that with what I have right now, but I’m already anxious to start saving up for a bigger lens! It will definitely have to wait a while though… For now I’ll just keep learning and practicing what I can!
Here’s another of Billy coming off the field. He made an amazing catch in the ninth inning and the Huskies pulled off a 2-1 win against the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. Here’s hoping they can do it again tomorrow and Saturday!
Watermelon + cantaloupe snack in the stands:
After the game, we went out to dinner with Billy’s dad, and Billy picked the place so of course we ended up at our favorite pizza joint and got the usual pizza and wings order. I didn’t take pictures, but if you’ve been reading for a while, you probably already know what it looks like!
I don’t know what’s up for the rest of the night, but I could really go for a walk. It’s a little chilly out but I’m loving how late it stays light out and feeling like I should take advantage of it! Perhaps some photography research too. It sure is nice having all this free time!
