I Have The Best FriendsPosted: August 19, 2013
One of the things that I feel so incredibly lucky for in life is that I have amazing friends.
Friends who I know I could count on through anything,
Friends who are so hugely supportive, honest, and thoughtful.
Friends who I feel close to even when we don’t see each other for months at a time.
Friends who I can share anything with.
I’m not one of those people who has a million friends… but I have a really great few.
And I wouldn’t have it any other way.
This weekend, I was lucky enough to see a few of these wonderful women, and it may sound cliché, but it literally warms my heart to get to spend time with them.
On Friday, two of my oldest friends came out to visit, and we had a great time going downtown for some drinks, dancing, and catching up.
We don’t get to see each other as often as we’d like anymore, but when we do, we always seem to pick up right where we left off. We tried to get this picture right and mirror the one we took three summers ago, but we were a little off in the order. We might look a little different three years later, but I’m happy to say that our friendship hasn’t changed!
I got the usual eggs, toast, bacon, and potatoes…
Plus a delicious fruit bowl on the side.
Nothing like sharing a good meal with great friends in beautiful weather!
After they left, I spent some time packing/moving stuff into my new apartment, doing chores around the house, and relaxing by the pool. We stopped at the co-op before they headed out, and I picked up this kombucha, which was perfectly refreshing on a hot day. Kombucha is a fermented tea which is thought to have detoxifying effects on the body, and although I’d never tried it, I’d heard a lot about it, and I really liked the taste.
Sunday morning, I started the day with something I haven’t had in quite some time – oatmeal. I made this bowl with Bob’s Red Mills oats, water, half a banana, cinnamon, raisins, and blueberries. On a particularly cool summer morning, this meal definitely made me think of Fall!
After breakfast, I headed down to Massachusetts to meet up with my friend Amanda, who went with me to our friend Ashley’s bridal shower. Everything at the shower was so well thought out and beautiful, and it was great to get to spend some time with two more ladies that I don’t get to see often enough anymore either.
We had a great time watching Ashley open all her gifts…
And laughed our way through the afternoon dressing Amanda in a toilet paper wedding dress and veil.
And of course… the food was out of this world. I didn’t get to take pictures of everything, but there were so many delicious dishes to try.
My favorite of the day had to be the cake pops that Ashley’s future sister in law made… They quickly made the jump to the top of my list of things to bake for the next party I go to! (The cinnamon pita chips with fruit salsa was a close second.)
It was another wonderful day with truly amazing friends, and I left feeling lucky to have them all in my life. I couldn’t ask for much more!
