Hola amigos!

The day started off at the crack of dawn – a 3:30am wake-up call, to be exact. We didn’t let that deter us though; we just loaded up our bags in the car, and off we went!
I tried to come prepared as far as food goes, but I didn’t have that much left over from the week, so pickings were sort of slim. When we got to the airport, I got a bacon, egg, and cheese on an English muffin from Dunkin Donuts and snacked on my carrots on the side. I wouldn’t normally eat carrots for breakfast – but then again, I don’t normally eat breakfast at 5am!

We made it through security in no time, and then before we knew it, we were on the plane, headed to Cancun…

It was a pretty long five hour flight, but I just watched movies and the time passed by quickly. The movies of the day were Chasing Mavericks and Trouble With The Curve – two that I’d been wanting to see. I enjoyed both, and I was thankful that at the end of the movie watching, it was about time to land.
After we got through customs, the hotel van picked us up and we headed toward the resort. It was a long hour (or more) ride, and we were all exhausted by the time we made it, but excited to be here at the same time. It was too early to check into our room, so we spent an hour or so walking around the grounds, signing up for excursions, and checking out the menus at the various restaurants. There is so much to do here, and everything is beautiful!
We stopped in at the buffest restaurant for our first lunch in Mexico, and there were so many options that I hardly knew what to do with myself. For my first go at it, I went with the fajita meat + veggies, plus a cheese quesadilla, and some cucumbers + tomatoes.
I’ve already decided that the dessert buffet is going to be both my love affair and my arch nemesis this week, but I started off strong with two unique samples. The mango cake (on the left) was delicious, and the Mexican cake was alright, but I think I’ll try something else next time.
Now that we’re finally settled and unpacked in our room, it’s time for a bit of exploring! I think the plan is to walk around the grounds a bit (the resort is huge), and then pick one of the restaurants for dinner. I’ll be sure to post all kinds of pictures this week; it’s looking like it’s going to be a blast!
I hope you all had a great Friday and that you have a wonderful weekend! ![]()
Hasta manana!
