UDel and A Nor’Easter

One of the things that always happens when I’m on these two-week work trips is that I lose all track of what day it is.  We usually travel on the first Sunday, have weird hours on Thursday and Friday, work straight through the weekend, and then finish up on the following Thursday.  Saturday and Sunday don’t end up feeling like weekend days at all, and I wind up getting all confused about where we even are in the week.  Other people are coming home/going to work, and we’re doing the opposite, or they are enjoying their weekend and we are heading off to the warehouse.  It’s really strange!

Yesterday I got up at my normal time and hit the gym first thing, like I would on a weekday, starting with a 10 minute walk and then doing 20 minutes of 1-minute sprint/1-minute walk intervals.  After that, I did this usual biceps + chest workout, plus a couple extra moves I’ve been liking lately, and then hopped in the shower to get ready for work.

My coworker is always telling me about all this wicked cool new stuff to try (she brought in eggnog tea last week), and the other day she gave me these Better Oats.  I’d never heard of them before, but I thought the packaging was fun, and I liked how they included only real ingredients.

The website gives all kinds of information about the company and their products, and after checking it out a bit, I definitely want to try some of their other varieties… particularly the dark chocolate

Oh my yum.

I went with the Cinnamon Roll variety she gave me yesterday morning for breakfast.  I chopped up an apple and added it and some hot water to the package of oats, and I thought it was really delicious.  The oats were thinner (instead of being thick and sticky), and I really like them that way.

After a few hours of work, we did get out a bit earlier in the afternoon and I got to enjoy at least part of my Saturday off.  I went with my coworkers to Chipotle for a late lunch, and got my usual salad with chicken, fajita peppers and onions, tomatoes, and hot salsa.

The restaurant was actually on (or at least really close to) the University of Delaware campus, so it was cool to be able to drive through their downtown area.  The streets were packed with students, and it definitely made me miss college!

I couldn’t get too many good pictures from the car, but the campus seemed really beautiful.  There were lots of brick buildings and green spaces, so it reminded me a lot of my time at UConn.  The downtown area was really cool, with lots of little shops, restaurants, bars, and bakeries, and it seemed like it would be a really fun place to go to school.  Even though I don’t get out a whole lot on these trips, it’s definitely neat to be able to see things I wouldn’t have seen otherwise!

After our little campus tour and lunch, I headed out on en excursion to good old TJ Maxx.  Sure, it’s pretty lame that I’m in another state and all I want to do/make time for is hit up TJ Maxx… but hey, a girl’s got to have priorities!

But while I was out gallivanting around Newark, Delaware (our hotel’s right on the other side of the Maryland border, in case you were confused), I was also thinking about everyone back home in New Hampshire.  Like the rest of the northeast, they got absolutely hammered by the nor’easter on Friday and Saturday, and these are just some of the pictures they sent my way to remind me what I was missing.

Although I’m really sad/jealous that I missed all of the snow myself, I’m glad that everyone’s safe and warm up there!  Including this little guy who clearly must have been huge help to my mom while shoveling that two feet of fresh powder off her driveway…

At least he’s a good supervisor!

I hope you all had a wonderful, relaxing, fun weekend and are ready for a great week ahead!

omg girl do NOT try the dark chocolate oatmeal. It is SO gross! I made my mom bring the remaining packets to her work and not a single soul touched them. Fair warning!
