Open Gym Time

Happy Saturday, everyone!

I stayed at my apartment instead of going home to my parents’ houses this weekend for the first time in a long time, and so far, I’m really glad I did!

Last night, I went down to my gym, where they have open gym time in the gymnastics area on Friday nights.  You have to pay $5 and then you pretty much have free reign to use any of the gymnastics equipment that they have.  I’ve been excited to go, even though I was nervous that it’d probably be me and a bunch of 9-year-old girls making me look bad.  I used to tumble a little bit when I did cheerleading in high school, but it’s been quite a while, so I wasn’t sure what to expect out of myself.

There were quite a few little kids there and some teenage boys who were totally showing me up throwing double backflips into the foam pit, but I actually had a lot of fun!  I threw quite a few back handsprings and back tucks on the tumble track trampoline and I was amazed at how fast it all came back to me. I don’t know that I’ll be throwing any of that stuff on the real floor anytime soon, but it was still a lot of fun to be able to be flipping around again on the nice, soft trampoline-like surface.  The open time was only for an hour, but I got a pretty serious workout out of it – definitely worked muscles that I haven’t used in a long time!

The other great thing about sticking around my own apartment this weekend was actually waking up in my own bed!  Of course I was wide awake at the crack of dawn, but it was so nice not to have to lug around suitcases or rush off to do anything right away.  To start the weekend off right, I whipped up some pumpkin pancakes.

Topped with strawberries, cinnamon, and maple syrup!

I ate them with hot tea while all cozied up in bed watching some weekend Good Morning America, and it was wonderful… Not much could beat it on a Saturday morning when it’s only 9* outside!

I plan on spending a good chunk of the first part of today putting a dent in my CPT studying.  I only have five more chapters to get through before I can start circling back and reviewing for the exam!

They have another hour of open gymnastics time later today, so I’m headed back there for more fun this afternoon.  Can’t wait!

Questions:

What are your plans for the weekend?

Is it cold where you live?

Have you ever done gymnastics?

I just found your blog, and I love it :)

I wish I was gifted in the gymnastics department, but I can barely even do a cartwheel….so sad!
And yes, I live in Michigan and it is frigid outside. I seriously HATE the winter!!! lol

    • I’m so glad you found me! I hope you like it :)

I’m really not that talented in the gymnastics department either… years of cheerleading just taught me a few fun things! Haha I love the winter, but the cold definitely makes it tough!!
