My ‘Good Enough’ Living Room

Last night, I put away some of my newest HomeGoods purchases, hung the curtains I’d been working on, and pretty much completed putting together my living room.

I saw these prints last time I went to the HomeGoods at the Cape and fell in love with them, so when they were still there this time, I knew I had to get them.

The curtains were super easy to make, and I love the way they still let a ton of light in from the huge windows.  I can close the sheers if I want to for privacy, but I like seeing outside so much that I don’t see myself doing that too often.

The colors aren’t all matchy-matchy, so it made finding decorations easier because I could basically pick whatever I wanted.  But I think they still go together well.

My next project is to find something to replace this bulky entertainment center that Billy’s uncle graciously gave us when we were at our old place.  I’ve had that TV for at least 10 years now, and I think it’s time for an upgrade.  I would like to get some kind of narrow sofa table, perhaps paint it a funky color, and save up for a new flat screen TV to go on top of it.  (With that said, if anyone’s getting rid of an old sofa table, please let me know!!)

I’d also like to do something to hide that ugly air conditioner in the corner, so if you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them. I was thinking maybe a hanging plant, or some kind of indoor tree to also fill up the empty corner next to the couch, but I think it’s going to take me some time to figure it out.

I’m infinitely far from being anything like a real interior designer (my cousin is actually one – a really great one – and I dream about being as good as she is!) but I like the way everything came together, and, aside from the sofa + chair, it didn’t even cost me that much!

My boss recently told me this quote (I think from a past president) that went something like: don’t overlook ‘good enough’ in the pursuit of perfection.  And I think it really applies here!  If I had the cash to get all brand new, expensive stuff, I could probably get it to look “perfect,” but with my limited time and budget, I think it looks pretty dang good enough
