Frustrations

Lunch today (not counting the handful of Hershey kisses) was carrots, cucumbers, Colby-Jack cheese, and Wasa crackers.  I’d seen these crackers around and decided to try them out since I’m always looking for healthier alternatives to the foods I like best (crackers included), but I really wasn’t moved.  They tasted too much like Triscuits, which I really do not like.  I guess I’ll have to deal with it though because now I have a whole package to get through… Arggh.

After lunch, I thought to myself how I wished I had brought my gym clothes with me (like I normally do) so I could go straight to the gym when I got out.  I knew I wouldn’t feel like working out if I went home and sat down… and sure enough, that’s exactly what happened.  Wouldn’t you know it?  Frustrating!

I try to give myself some leeway on Wednesdays as the midpoint of the week so I don’t get tired of going straight to the gym after work every day, but I might have to rethink that. I know I would have been fine and gotten in a good workout if I’d gone straight there, so I will probably try to come up with a gym plan for Wednesdays, just in case.

I did get something of a workout in today, motivated by Julie’s Jump Rope workout.  I bought a jump rope last week, and when I read her post today and realized I hadn’t used it yet, I decided it would be fun to try it out.

I did each move for 1 minute, resting for 30 seconds after each group of two exercises.

At the end I added two minutes of Swiss ball crunches to finish it out in about 40 minutes total.

I got a pretty good workout in because I really tried to keep moving even when the rope got tangled, but my jumping skills definitely need some work.  Add to that that I really didn’t have a good place to do this workout (the jump rope kept getting stuck on things and I had to add a little time here and there to chase the ball around), and you can see again why I titled this post what I did.  I’m still glad I bought the rope though (for $3 at Walmart!) because it’s a lot of fun to use and really had me sweating, and I can see it popping up from time to time in the future.

I’m hoping for a less frustrating outcome at the dining hall tonight, but there’s no telling what will happen there.  Long lines, no good food, and nowhere to sit can sometimes all prove pretty darn frustrating.

Here’s hoping for the best!! Smile
